Sinusitis treatment
Sinusitis is swelling of the sinuses, usually after a cold. Most cases get better on their own within 2 to 3 weeks, but a pharmacist can help if it isn't improving.

Who can use this service
Adults and children aged 12 and over. It's free if you don't usually pay for prescriptions. If you do, any medicine supplied costs the standard NHS prescription charge.
Common symptoms
- Pain, swelling or tenderness around your cheeks, eyes or forehead
- A blocked or runny nose
- Reduced sense of smell
- Green or yellow mucus
- A high temperature
How it works
- Walk in or book. Ask to see the pharmacist. You don't need a GP appointment or referral.
- Consultation. In a private room, the pharmacist asks about your symptoms and medical history and checks whether you meet the NHS criteria.
- Treatment or referral. If suitable, you'll get treatment and aftercare advice. If not, we'll give you advice or refer you to the right service.
When to get urgent help
Call 111 or go to A&E if you have severe pain or swelling around your eyes, changes to your vision, a severe headache or a stiff neck. In an emergency, call 999.
